Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.
The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.
“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from management,” Slot stated.
“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”
He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”
When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:
“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”
He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”
The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.
“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”
He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period like this with performances so bad.”
He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”
“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”
“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
