American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, peer Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote online.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
