President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
The president explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in the capital.
“She was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.
The tragedy caused the administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.
The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor said on television.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
